After graduating from vocational school as Valedictorian and delivering a resounding valedictory address to the Class of 2002, Barbara Talbot went on to study Video Production at Southern Connecticut State University. There, she completed two independent studies, one focused on Advanced Special Effects in Video, the other, Electronic Filmmaking. Her internship was with Tripeg Studios and Synthetic Cinema International. In May 2006 she graduated as Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
In the beginning of her professional career Barbara was with Thin Air, LLC. As a Product Designer, she drafted up gardening products that were distributed to Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, and Target nationally. She also assisted in the creation of multimedia presentations for Mattel, Georgia Pacific, and other clients, as well as various videos. All the while, she was on call as a Theatre Stagehand for the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts.
Looking for a change of pace, in February of 2007, she left Connecticut and moved to Las Vegas. Eager to expand her self-taught knowledge of website development, she found entry level work as a web designer with Millennium Marketing Concepts, INC. Her role eventually expanded to entail many aspects of information technology, including systems administration, leading to her promotion.
Early 2008 an opportunity presented itself at a startup company and Barbara resigned her position as Millennium’s I.T. Director. She become a Front End Developer at Beyond Commerce working alongside a talented team of developers. While there, she worked on a variety of projects including, e-commerce stores, a social network, and a business directory. In late 2009, Barbara returned to freelancing full time to expand her creative portfolio.
After enjoying the freedom of a freelancing schedule she once more returned the the corporate world in January 2011. Joining the ranks of the second largest gaming company in the world, MGM Resorts International, as a Web Designer on their Digital Design Team. Her days were spent designing flash banner advertisements and maintaining a portfolio of over 15 websites that include some of the most prestigious destination resort brands including Aria, Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Mirage and others.
Later that year, while at MGM Resorts, an opportunity arose to join a still small digital agency, Levy Online. Jumping into WordPress development she coded websites from scratch blending best practices for search engines and performance driven optimization, with custom high quality engaging designs. By developing multiple optimally performing sites that were equally of superior quality and usability she paved the way for the agency to take on a higher tier clientele within the design and development division. Now, as the Director of Design & Development, she continues to drive innovation and success within her team and their projects everyday.
